The world's first online community dedicated to the offensive line
As I sat through a few of the linemens press conferences I realized how boring these guys are. I understand that presenting yourself in the best light is of the upmost importance during this time. It's one thing to be politically correct and it's another to be robotic. It's ok to admit your goal is to be a pro-bowler and become the best at your position. The correct answer isn't always, "win a Super Bowl and help my teammates be the best they can be". If I hear this again when asked, "whats your goal?" I am going to throw a fit.
A few guys really stood out:
Mike Iupati G. Idaho: First and foremost this kid is a beast on the football field. Every coach in the NFL will love to have a guy like this on their roster. He grew up in a very humble enviornment after his family decided to leave Samoa in order to ensure a brighter future for their kids. Mike comes off as a very likeable guy that is a bit naive but very good hearted. Everybody seemed to enjoy him because he allowed himself to be human. He laughed at himself and admitted he can be overly aggressive. This is a kid that will play football for a long time and be great at it.
Ciron Black T, LSU: Ciron sweated his way through his 15 minute press conference but did a really nice job. He came off as a very humble guy that understands his opportunity. What he showed me, was a very broad knowledge of offensive line play. He readily admitted the mental transition will be the most challenging because of the varied elements that go into being a professional athlete. He knows his conditioning and strength has to improve in order to be successful at the next level. Ciron could potentially be a 2-3 round pick and with his attitude will be very successful.
