John 15:13.
Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
We teach family and to love each other as a brother and family. Then your playing not for yourself but for your family.

tr.v. prid·ed, prid·ing, prides
To indulge (oneself) in a feeling of pleasure or satisfaction: I pride myself on this beautiful garden.
[Middle English, from Old English prde, from prd, proud; see proud.]

1 and 2 are good Self respect, Taking pride in something you have done but pride can also hurt a team when players have individual pridefulness when leads to team division and self destruction. The look at me player not the look at the team. This is why pride is one of the seven deadly sins.

I believe "pride" can be summed up within this context, as an extraordinary commitment to complete the task at hand. And most importantly to do all of the little things that will put you in the best position to complete the task. You can't show up on gameday expecting to play at a high level without having studied your opponent, trained properly, solid sleep, eating right and all of the "little things" that will help you perform at a high level. Pride extends into all facets of your life that impact what you are "prideful" about.  Just my opinion!
