After the recent controversy on deer antler spray, I found myself looking into different types of supplements such as: glutamine, BCAAs, fish oil, cherry extract, and others. My question is what supplements are worth putting into my body? I'm currently taking Monster Mass (protein), Kre-Alkalyn (creatine), and a multi-vitamin. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Comment by LeCharles Bentley on February 16, 2013 at 11:22pm Supplements at your age group is highly overrated. This is a period of your life when you'll never make the gains you can make now through just a well designed program, good diet and sleep. I understand the "pressure" of expediting development, fish oil, creatine, multi-vitamin and whey protein is all I would recommend. The problem with supplements is the fact good ones are not cheap and aren't easy to get. If you can go to the store and get it, it's probably not the highest quality. Even the quality of fish oils are as varied as a box of crayons. I'd recommend you go to LEF.org and order yourself a multi-vitamin and fish oil. Your protein source post workout doesn't have to be of olympic athlete level but the cheaper the source the more difficult it is on your stomach. Monster Mass is a weight gainer, you want to gain weight, eat and lift. Messing around with weight gainers will have you fat before you know it. Take the time to pack you an extra lunch and focus on calories from wh*** foods, not powders. There will come a time when supplementation will have a tremendous effect on you, unfortunately now really isn't the time. Your age is the best supplement you have going for you.
