Bruce Campbell, Combines Workout Warrior
Once again the combine has not failed to deliver as it has produced this years workout warrior. Offensive tackle Bruce Campbell out of the University of Maryland has awed NFL officials with eye popping ability. At first glance, offensive line is the last position one would assume Campbell played. He's built like Orlando Magic superstar center Dwight Howard minus 5" and an additional 70lbs of muscle (6'7" 314lbs). His build would have to be accredited to his father, former NBA player…

Combine Day Two Results
Day Two of the NFL Combine has come to a close. The running backs, wideouts and quarterbacks were an overall impressive group. Each guy did a good job of fielding questions and held their composure when asked difficult ones. Dez Bryant was the star of this group and his arrival was highly anticipated considering all of the hoopla surrounding his suspension for alledged less than honest dealings with Deion Sanders. The Oklahoma State star was well prepared as he effortlessly…

That statement does not seem to make sense, but if you stick with me it will make more sense. Most people try to avoid what is uncomfortable or they are not good at. Someone said get comfortable being uncomfortable. If you are a lineman and you know you are strong strength should not be your priority. Does it make sense for an accountant to hire an…

Combine day two
Day two will be a big day as the "skill players" are being introduced. The quarterbacks and running backs will make their way through the maze of reporters and cameras. A few coaches and general managers that are in interesting situations will hold press conferences as well. I am looking forward to speaking with Cleveland Browns president Mike Holmgren, Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress and Bengals Marvin Lewis.
What I would like to know from Mike Holmgren is…

The "big sexies" not looking to hot
As I sat through a few of the linemens press conferences I realized how boring these guys are. I understand that presenting yourself in the best light is of the upmost importance during this time. It's one thing to be politically correct and it's another to be robotic. It's ok to admit your goal is to be a pro-bowler and become the best at your position. The correct answer isn't always, "win a Super Bowl and help my teammates be the best they can be". If I hear this again…

I remember the first time I heard the term “big uglies” by a sports caster that was describing the size of the offensive lines in an NFL game. It is not unusual to see lineman pushing the 350 lb mark on Sundays. Coaches encourage the weight gain and feel that size dictates the strength of the lineman. It often leads to young men that force feed themselves to reach a certain…

Mike Singletary Press Conference
In all of my years as a student I have never opted to sit in the front row for fear of being the "teachers pet"! As I scanned the room for a seat before San Fancisco head coach Mike Singletary began his press conference, there wasnt anything open in the back. My only option was to sit in the front row directly in front of the greatest linebacker to ever play in the NFL. The only option is sometimes the best option as I had the opportunity to really get a feel for his…

NFL Combine Day One
Today is the first official day of the NFL Combine and this is exciting! My day has already started off very interesting. As I pulled up to the Lucas Oil Stadium here in Indianapolis I wasn't able to enter the parking area. For whateever reaason my bank card wasn't scanning but it appeared all the media folks didn't have a problem. Cash was the only way I was getting in so 5$ down the drain was my official combine kickoff.
It's a fridgidly cold day here in Indy…

BCS Bowl
Although bowl-season is over, it appears the real “grand-daddy” of them all is commencing to kickoff. Congress has now decided to step up its pursuit of an investigation into the allegations that the current BCS Bowl system is a violation of
anti-trust laws. Considering my novice level of legal expertise, I
understand anti-trust law as being the true facilitator of an open
market and competition. The nature of the law is to prevent monopolies
that could take…
