Hey guys I am a 15 year old grade 10 o-lineman 6'3 290 in Canada. I am looking to travel to the states to play ball when I leave my highschool. If anybody can give me any pointers tips ANYTHING on how to get there it would be HIGHLY appreciated

Think Performance over weights. Reach out to people like LeCharles and master the technique of being a well rounded lineman. I commend you for wanting to better yourself. Study a lot of game film. If you want a better idea of the type of training I recommend read our "Starter Guide to Youth Fitness" at http://www.fastyouthathlete.com Thanks.

Thanks man I appreciate the reply
No Problem. You have some good size for your age. Do you have some footage to upload so we can see your footwork.
I am working on that for this season. I have a few short clips but for this upcoming season I just a bought a new camcorder. So I am planning on making a highlight tape.
For a 15 yr old you have good size - doesn't seem to be an issue. Offensive lineman - contrary to popular opinion - need to be the best athletes on the field. Moving in all directions with balance and agility while maintaining the ability to pull the trigger on a block or punch. It is said that o-line is like playing in a phonebooth - you never want to have your hands reach too far outside the scope of your shoulders - then you end up lunging and reaching and inevitably see a brightly colored flag appear! You've gotta move your feet to adjust to the defender - a direct parallel to playing D in basketball. I would recommend playing basketball to work on your feet and body position (avoid going in for rebounds too much as it's an easy way to roll/break an ankle). Also flexibility is huge - especially in the hips where all your power is generated. Hopefully you're comfortable enough to pursue some yoga or pilates - there;s many pros out there that swear by it. Hope this helps.
Thanks Matt I appreciate the input. It is something that I have been working on. I have slimmed down now at 280 6'4 I can see a huge difference in my footwork in the past 2 seasons. And I have actually just signed up for a yoga class I start tomorrow

Finally got a highlight film together. Take a look let me know the good and the bad.

This is my junior year.

Thanks

definetly need to work on speed and how fast you get off the ball.

I agree with that with the open field part. But with the off the ball part ive always been told that I am quick off the ball so that is a suprise to me

felt like u fired off the ball pretty good!  remember to continue to run ur feet through the initial contact.  if i were you i would focus on my overall body composition (less body fat!!!!!) this will help ur overall performance and especially ur agility when u play in space.

What is your boy fat % and your 1 rep max in the squat or deadlift? I think until you address the strength foundation of at least being able to squat 1.5 times your body weight and trying to keep your body fat at a decent level you will not perform at your best. The speed work will just not be as effective.

As for body fat percentage im not to sure I havent had that done yet. Max squat was 460 deadlift I havent done in the longest time do to a lower back injury.
