Playing last night, someone rolled on my leg and injured my ankle.  I can't put hardly any weight on it this morning.  The team Doctor figures on a bad sprain.  Will likely get x-rayed tomorrow.  Aside from the obvious icing, elevating, etc... any advice would be greatly appreciated.  I've never been one to tape my ankles but will probably start now.  Little late, though...

Watch what you eat!!! Stay away from starchy foods like pasta, bread and potatoes. Foods like this trigger a strong inflammatory signal throughout the body that will cause your ankle to stay inflammed longer. If you have access to pineapple, apples and cherries these are great at calming inflammation. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and flush out your system. Also, check your pantry you may have some cumin and cayenne pepper hidden in the spice rack. If you do, sprinkle some on all your food. Theyre tremendous at fighting inflammation. These are just a few simple things you can do but only the tip of the iceberg! WATCH WHAT YOU EAT!!!! THE MOST IMPORTANT MODALITY IN HEALING!

Also, plenty of fish oil....get better!
Thanks, my friend. I take fish oil every day. Our conditioning coach told us all to get on it. Doesn't look like a break, I'm in an aircast and crutches for now though. Thanks again.
LeCharles is right. There are many foods that have inflammatory responses. I used to sprain my ankles a lot in college and arena ball. I would fix it and it would happen again. What I found out is I was applying a band aid to a symptom instead of addressing the problem. I started adding ankle mobility and hip mobility drills into my workout. I have not had an ankle injury since along with taking fish oil capsules. Also, I found out that ankle tapping is part of the problem as it restricts the natural movement of the ankle. The ankle was a joint that was made to be mobile, so it does not make sense to restrict it’s mobility.
Thanks, Jimmy!
