The world's first online community dedicated to the offensive line
What is a good solid O-line 40 time/bench max? I'm currently at 250 lbs and I run a 5.7 and benching 300 even. I work out with my team and do sprints with them, but are there any drills I should be doing on my own to increase my speed?

Hit the power cleans, work on your explosiveness off the ball and as far as upper body workouts your way better off with incline dumbbell press and working your shoulders... One great way to help your flexibility is Stiff leg dead lift... it has worked wonders on my hamstrings over the last few months...

The last thing you should be worried about is your linear speed. If you have free time to get extra work in your focus should be Oline drills. Sharpen up your technique and even work on your flexibility. Your speed will improve as your strength and body composition improve.
As far as the bench.....this is an exercise that gets way too much attention in football. Bench by itself can do more bad than good when it comes offensive line performance as it can create bad posture as well as an imbalance between the anterior and posterior shoulder muscles. I'm always more interested to hear how much a hog can clean and if they are able to do pull ups without swinging their legs.
